In Cuba, even food is policed, especially if you're a dissident.
Just a few weeks ago, on Jan. 1, Robert Alfonso committed suicide while serving a 45 year sentence for the crime of unlawful slaughter of beef.

Home of dissidient in Santa Clara searched
The home of dissident Idania Yanes Contreras was searched last weekend by three members of the police force.
The lead officer said the police had received information that illegal beef was stored in the house.
When the police asked for her husband, she said that the house belonged to her and that the charge was false.
The police looked in the refrigerator and under the bed but found nothing.
Yanes Contreras is coordinator of the Marta Abreu Feminine Movement and a student at the Superior Institute of Medical Sciences.
