I believe that after forty-six years of Castro dictatorship the time is nearing when Cuba will be free. It may be that in the not to distant future former Assault Brigade 2506 members and their families and the entire Cuban community will assemble again. This time the place will not be the Orange Bowl in Miami but it will be in a free Havana, in a place that will have changed its name from “Revolution Square” to “Liberty Square.” And at that place I hope to hear another President of the United States say, “Members of the Assault Brigade 2506, I am here in a Free Cuba, returning to you the flag that was given to us for safekeeping in December 1962.”Mi fa strano leggere questo articolo, e nn so quanto tutti gli altri interessati, ossia i cubani dell'isola, potranno essere d'accordo.

Certo, da esiliato, il desiderio e' leggittimo;Oliva non ha fatto altro che ritentare quel che castro aveva fatto, con lo stesso aiuto americano; solo che castro e' un figlio di puttana molto peggio di batista, e kennedy un enigma. Di certo, nel quadro di una Cuba riappacificata, l'immagine e' forte e commovente.
L'articolo tenta di spiegare che Kennedy si penti per essersi tirato indietro, e che contrariamente alla promessa di non invadre cuba fatta a krushev dnella crisi dei missili, non abbiam mai smesso di pensarci.
Credo piuttosto che sia stata una cinica mossa per tenere buoni gli infuriati cubani della 2056. Ma non sono nessuno per giudicare anto dolorosi avvenimenti.
